Strengthening Non-Governmental Exchange and Promoting the Construction of Silk Road on the Sea

In the morning of March 5, 2014, the seminar of “Strengthening Non-Governmental Exchange and Promoting the Construction of Silk Road on the Sea” initiated by the Chairman Xi Jinping, was held by China International Exchange Association of Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee in Beijing Wanshou Hotel.

Mr. Xu Wei, Director of Asian and African Development Research Institute of the State Council Development Research Center, Mr. Zhou FangYin and Mr. Zhou FangYe from the Asia Pacific and Global Strategy Center of China Academy of Social Sciences Institute, Mr. Zhao Kejin, Director of China Strategy and Public Diplomacy of Tsinghua University, Mr. Li Wei, Secretary general of China Environment Protection Foundation, Ms. Hong Ping, Deputy Secretary-General of China's Family Planning Association, Mr. Yuan DaoMin, Director of Asian and African Division of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Mr. Zhang WeiXin, Chairman of China Privately Owned Enterprise Co-operation Development Association attended it at the invitation of the host.

Mr. Liu KaiYang, Deputy Secretary-General of China International Exchange Association hosted the seminar and Mr.Ni Jian, Secretary-General of China International Exchange Association made the opening speech. All the participates made a discussion on the themes of “Problems and Challenges Faced by the Construction of Silk Road on the Sea” and “Functions of Non-Governmental Diplomacy in the Construction of Silk Road on the Sea”.

Mr. Zhang WeiXin made a speech on the theme of “Functions of Non-Governmental Diplomacy in the Construction of Silk Road on the Sea”. He said the Central Committee of the Communist Party proposed to construct the Silk Road on the sea, all the experts should present the thorough and overall research, prove the feasibility and measure the disadvantages and advantages in order to render the right evidence for the leaders' strategic decision making and realize it from initiative to policy. As the Association of Private Sector, we will definitely to implement the national strategic policies at our best.

The seminar is very successful and provides new thinkings on how to strengthening non-governmental exchange and promoting the construction of Silk Road on the sea.
