Chinese Enterprises Overseas Investment Salon
On July 4, 2014, Chinese Enterprises Overseas Investment Salon held by Global Times was opened in Beijing. Mr. TAN Lui Hai, Economic Counselor from Embassy of the Republic of Singapore Beijing, Mr. APIPONG KHUNAKORNBODINTR, Minister Counselor from Royal Thai Embassy, Beijing, Mr. ALEJANDRO ROA VALENCIA, Commercial Counselor from Embassy of Colombia-Commercial Office and Chinese entrepreneurs attended the event. Ms. Xiuqing HU, Deputy Secretary – General and Ms. Cindy LIU, Deputy Director of International Department presented at the invitation.
Ms. Huafeng LI, Director of Marketing Department of Global Times made welcome speech. The officials made detailed and vivid theme speeches on their own investment situation and favorable policies so that the Chinese enterprises could obtained accurate project information in short time and grasp good investment opportunities.
Recently overseas investment has been the new trend. China is transforming from a conventional big investment introducing country into a large investor. In 2009, the total Chinese overseas investment reached USD48billion, ranked No. 6 in the world. The investment rate increased 17.6% in 2012 and created a new record of USD87.8 billion after the United States and Japan. In 2013 the outbound investment exceeded USD100 billion, which realized 21% increase in the short 10 years in the context of slow recovery of global economy. Since the Chinese government policy which encouraged Chinese enterprises to make investment abroad in 2011, the investment structure has extended from energy and resources to consumer products, technologies, etc. and the major investors changed from state-owned companies to private-owned companies. In 2013, investment from private companies accounted for over half percent of the total investment and became the dominant force.
Officials and entrepreneurs had an active exchange and interaction in warm atmosphere during the free discussion.
